It is a living fossil, being the only living member of the family Carettochelyidae, and the only known species in the subfamily Carettochelyinae and the genus Carettochelys!!

It is a species of soft-shelled turtle but the shell looks... hard enough:P But, unlike how it looks... its shell is leather!

Males will typically have longer tails compared to the females so it is an easy way to tell the gender of your favourite Pig Nosed Turtle:D

The best feature is its unique nose which looks very similar to that of a PIG!!
