The smaller ones we touched is cow-nose ray! It has unique forehead that resembles the nose of a cow from which it got its common name. They are brown on top with no spots, and pale below.

It has distinctively striking colour pattern. The entire upper surface, including half of the tail, is covered in a pattern of circular brown to black rings resembling a leopard’s fur. Its tail tapers to a fine point, like a whip. This is how it got its name, Leopard Whipray!!
